Hello, lovelies!
Whenever the temperature changes, so does your skin. What works for you in the heat of summer probably won’t work in the freezing cold. When you start pulling out your coats, it’s time to pull out your cold weather skin care products.
Face Wash
When the weather turns cold, it’s important to keep (almost) everything creamy. I actually use First Aid Beauty’s Face Cleanser all year. When it’s super humid, I don’t really need much, if any, moisturizer. When it’s cold an dry, it doesn’t completely dry out my skin, like some other face washes do.
Toner
Toner is probably the only thing that doesn’t need to be creamy. If your normal toner is drying, switch it out for something that exfoliates, too. I use First Aid Beauty’s Facial Radiance Pads. They tone while gently exfoliating and taking of dead skin.
Moisturizer
When it comes to winter moisturizer, the thicker the better. My favorite is First Aid Beauty’s Ultra Repair Cream. It’s perfect for dry, cracked skin. It even works on eczema. The formula is for both face and body, but in the winter, I prefer a thicker moisturizer for my body.
Masks
Masks are a great way to give yourself an extra moisture boost. First Aid Beauty’s Oatmeal Mask is both smoothing and nourishing.
Body
Don’t forget about your body! Your skin is your largest organ, and all of it needs special attention in the winter. I prefer creams over lotions. I’m totally obsessed with Soap & Glory’s The Righteous Butter. The tub is definitely better than the bottle, because it’s way easier to get all of the product out. The formula is super thick, and it smells fucking delicious.
Tips
- Don’t use super hot water in the shower or bath. It feels amazing, but it dries out your skin.
- Apply your body lotion or cream right after your shower. That will lock in the moisture better.
- Moisturize your face in the morning and at night.
- Apply your morning moisturizer about 5-10 minutes before you do your makeup. If you put your makeup on right after your moisturizer, it might move around. I also recommend using a face primer.
- If hand lotion isn’t enough for your cracked hands, keep a travel-sized tub of thick body butter in your purse.
- When you go to bed, wear gloves and socks on moisturized hands and feet.

Love your tips!! I had to learn about all that when I first moved to Utah, because I had never been in such a freaking dry winter. I got a set of Burt’s & Bees for hand moisturizing, and it even included gloves! It helped me keep my skin during winter so moisturized 🙂
Thank you, dear! That’s so great! I’ve heard good things about their hand cream.
I love these tips! Several years ago my skin got really dry, and I was itchy ALL over. Since then I have put lotion on after I get out of the shower, almost every single time. My hands do tend to get drier in the winter because I wash my hands a lot! They were worse when I worked retail too because I would use hand sanitizer too. I had to start putting lotion in gloves too and it helps so much. I do need to get a regular face routine down though.
Thank you! I have a bit of a hand sanitizer addiction, so my hands always suffer. Starting my regular face routine helped me so much. Last winter, I had weird, super dry patches next to my eyes. The facial pads and a regular mask cleared them right up!
