A lot of exciting things happened to me around the end of May and beginning of June last year, so I’m celebrating 2 very important and amazing anniversaries: my blogiversary and my workiversary! Yesterday was my 1st workiversary, and my boss surprised me with tickets to see The Little Mermaid Musical. Today is my 1st blogiversary, and I’m treating myself to my favorite bakery! Through all of the hard work, new experiences, and fun of the past year, I’ve learned a lot about myself, work, and life in general.
Things I’ve Learned About Myself
- I really love writing.
- I’m pretty fucking awesome.
- I can be social, even though I’m a total introvert.
- I can do pretty much anything I put my mind to.
Things I’ve Learned About Blogging
- There’s room for everyone in the blogosphere.
- Don’t bite off more than you can chew. Planning on 3 blog posts per week is not sustainable!
- Growing a following is super hard!
- Write for yourself, and you’ll attract your audience while making awesome friends.
- You don’t have to limit yourself to a super specific niche.
- Taking pictures and writing posts every day is super hard. Set aside specific days for content creation, so you can plan ahead and spread them out.
Things I’ve Learned About Working
- You can find a job and create a career around something that you love.
- Networking is important, but it can be super fun!
- Yes, social media is a job.
- You can create a side hustle that you love.
Things I’ve Learned About Life
- You don’t have to be enrolled in school to continue learning.
- Self-care is super important.
- Having online friends is awesome!
Tips
- Find a mentor. Seriously.
- If you want to do something, do it! You can’t get anywhere by just dreaming.
- Take breaks! If you workΒ too hard for too long, you will burn yourself out.
- Surround yourself with positive, successful people. They will rub off on you!
- Find a hobby.
- Don’t give up, but don’t try to force anything. If one path to your goals doesn’t work, try another one! Your vision may change, but your goals don’t have to.
Have you ever celebrated a blogiversary or workiversary? What did you do? Is there anything you think I should do to celebrate my blogiversary? Let me know in the comments!
I have never celebrated a job, I never had one worth keeping. lol But this month makes one year since I have been blogging! I think I should celebrate it!
Great tips and reminders as we realize and focus on what we want to do and what we can do with out lives.
How awesome your boss got you musical tickets!! Congrats on your BLOGIVERSARY AND WORKIVERSARY!!
In my student job, I would bake cookies for my coworkers on my workiversary. It was the best job ever and I even considered getting a master or somehow extending my bachelor’s degree for the sake of keeping that job (you had to be a student to have it). I still miss it, I had the best team ever there, and my only friends in school!
For my blog, I usually have some kind of Giveaway for the anniversary π
It is so fun to celebrate, and most importantly, to meditate about what we’ve learned through the journey! Love all those things you listed, they’re all so true. Also, I think I’ve said this before, but your boss is amazing π
