Has it really been 2 months since my last post? I totally lost my blogging groove, but I think a good post about zombies will perk me back up.
As I’m sure you know, I’m absolutely obsessed with The Walking Dead. I just can’t get enough zombies! When AC Lens approached me about doing a Halloween piece for them, I knew exactly what I’d do.
The Costume
Dressing like a zombie is actually really easy. Just grab some clothes that you don’t mind ruining. They can be old pieces from your closet or something cheap from a thrift shop. Rub some dirt on them, especially around the knees, shins, and elbows. If you’re a germaphobe like I am, grab a cheap bronzer. This can be done ahead of time. You can also tear your clothes in a little or use a razor to make them look a bit worn out.
If you want to be a little extra, you can go with a themed zombie outfit. Some fun ones might be cheerleader zombies, prisoner zombies, or corporate zombies. Let your imagination run wild!
The day that you wear the costume, whether that’s Halloween or October 22nd for your Walking Dead viewing party, grab the fake blood. Drip some on strategic places. I prefer to go for the neck and chest (so it looks like I just had a delightful meal).
A couple years ago, I turned my brother into a zombie for Halloween, and he loved it.
Hair and Makeup
If you have a lot of hair, tease the shit out of it. Really go crazy. It should look as messy as possible. If you can get away with it, don’t wash it for a couple of days, and add a little extra hair oil.
For your makeup, follow my Bloody Walker Tutorial. If you don’t have the Lip Tar, you can use fake blood.
The Finishing Touch: Zombie Eyes
The hardest thing to get right is definitely your eyes. Not everyone can pull off dead eyes. I really wish I had costume contacts, when I made my makeup tutorial last year.
AC Lens sells a bunch of awesome, FDA-cleared Halloween contacts. My personal favorites are their Zombie Undead lenses. They’re the perfect finishing touch for any zombie costume!
