Hello, lovelies!
I decided to do something different for #MakeupMonday this week. I subscribed to Ipsy a few months ago, and I’m debating whether or not I should cancel it. So far, I’m in love with the little makeup bags, especially the one for August, but I haven’t really been wowed by the products. This is what I thought of my products this month:
The Bag
This is literally the cutest makeup bag I’ve ever seen, besides my cat makeup bag from kate spade. I’m super in love with it, and I’ll definitely reuse it.

Formula X Nail Polish in Dollface
Formula X is my go-to nail polish brand. You’ve seen it in both of my Lazy Girl Nail Art posts. I absolutely swear by The System. Unfortunately, I’m not too sure about the color. I’m not a huge fan of super light nail polish with my skin tone. I usually stick to really bright or really dark colors. I couldn’t stand the plain light pink, so I played with my Formula X Xplosives Top Coat in Demolition. It gave my nails just enough color for me to not want to take the polish off immediately. I’m sure this shade would look fabulous on someone else, but it’s just not for me.

Face Mask Peel
I tried this mask right after washing my face. The first thing I noticed was the awkward texture. At first, it felt pretty smooth, but as I spread it on my face, it started to feel like eraser shavings in modpodge. It wasn’t very pleasant. After rinsing, my face didn’t feel particularly soft, and, while I don’t expect crazy results, it wasn’t any brighter. The best thing about this mask was the smell.

NYXย Born to Glow in Sunbeam
Excuse the awful picture. I did this on my day off, and I didn’t want to waste a full face of makeup, so I only used foundation and contour. This was probably my favorite product in the bag. I love NYX Cosmetics in general, but I’m still torn about them, because their parent company sells in China, where the products are tested on animals. I’m actually phasing out a bunch of my favorite brands because of this practice. The highlighter itself was a lovely pink. It went on smoothly and blended well. It was just a little more glittery than I expected.ย

Trust Fund Beauty Liquid Lipstick in K, Bye
I really liked the swatch of this product. Unfortunately, it didn’t look as nice on my lips as it did on my arm. The color was a little lackluster on my face. I’m sure it would look lovely on girls with lighter skin, but it just wasn’t my jam. Also, after spending over a year on the ColourPop train, I just can’t hang with lipsticks that don’t smell delicious.

Makeup Removing Wipes
When I finished with the makeup, I decided to try the wipes. I’m not a huge fan of makeup removing wipes. I usually hate the smell, but these smelled pretty nice. While a single wipe got most of my makeup off, it didn’t work as well as my trusty Makeup Eraser does. If I had my brows done and eyeliner on, I probably would’ve had to use multiple wipes. I would probably buy these for traveling, because I don’t like taking my Makeup Eraser out of the house.

Ipsy Glam Bag Conclusions
I think it’s time for me to move on to another subscription. As much as I love the makeup bags, there are other boxes that I would like to try. I’m also trying to pay more attention to whether or not brands are cruelty-free. While you can select your favorite cruelty-free brands, there’s no way to guarantee that you’ll only receive cruelty-free products. If you’re not too concerned with this, I think Ipsy will be just fine for you. So long, Ipsy! Thanks for the good times and adorable bags!
This looks really good ! some nice goodies in it
I agree with most of what you said! I feel like they don’t take the quiz they have us take sometimes ๐ I have been with them for three years, and at the beginning I was always blown away. But lately I’ve been started to get disappointed more often. Yet, I haven’t found another subscription that fits so well with my budget. I would pay $10 just for the designed bags, sometimes! So, I will not be changing until I find something within a similar budget. I’ll be interested to know what other options you go for!! ๐
I know, right? I finally signed up a few months ago, after hearing girls rave about them forever. I’m just not impressed, except by their bags. I’m looking into Petit Vour’s monthly box. It’s all cruelty-free, and it’s only $15 a month. I’ll let you know how it goes, after I sign up!
I love this post! It’s so honest and I just like how you describe your experience with each product. I admire that you’re also into cruelty-free products. That is one cute makeup bag though. Thanks for the share! xx

Thanks, dear! I’ve always preferred cruelty-free, but my recent research has opened my eyes to the fact that a lot of brands I thought were cruelty-free actually aren’t ๐ At least I got the cute makeup bag out of this!
Love the name of the lipstick ๐
Isn’t the name adorable?
