While some of my costumes this month were completely last minute, I’ve know what I wanted to be for this auspicious day for a while. Like almost everyone else in the world, I’ve loved Fleetwood Mac, and more specifically Stevie Nicks, for pretty much all my life. Watching her little cameos as the White Witch on American Horror Story made me love her more. A few months ago, I was considering being one of the AHS witches for Halloween, but I couldn’t decide on one. Then it hit me. I had to be Stevie.
The Accessories
Pro Tip: when ordering from a foreign seller, make sure you check whether or not the dimensions are in inches. I ordered aย gorgeousย shawl from a British seller on Etsy, and I couldn’t wait to receive it. Of course, the seller listed the dimensions in centimeters, as and good British seller would. I ended up with a beautiful shawl that was better suited for a 3 year old.
Obviously, I still needed a Stevie Nicks shawl, but I didn’t want to spend a ton of money on one. My local antique stores were no help, so I decided to make my own. All it took was a yard of lace fabric, 2 yards of fringe, and about 20 minutes with my sewing machine.
The rest was much easier. I found a cheap top hat on Amazon and added some feathers and ribbon for a more feminine touch. I already had the boots in my closet, and I used them with my Bellatrix costume. The necklace was from an oddities expo a few months ago.
The Outfit
My Princess Unicorn Fairy Whatever Dress from Rebellia really is the star of the show. It’s a bit boho, a bit goth, and a lot Stevie Nicks. And it’s perfect for twirling. It’s a bit too chilly to wear it alone, so I tossed on a thin black sweater.
Stevie Nicks
Tonight I’ll be sitting on my couch with some wine and the cats while channeling one of my favorite singers. What are you dressing up as today?
