Kim Chi stumbled her way into my heart when I saw her stomp down the runway during the premiere of RuPaul’s Drag Race season 8. I fell more in love with her every week, thanks her her perfectly beat mug, sweet disposition, and ridiculous one-liners. (Hello, donut come for me!) Seeing this Fat, Femme, and Asian queen make it to the top was super inspiring for this chunky Asian weirdo. I felt like I found a kindred spirit, and I wanted to support her as much as possible. I was super excited when she released a couple of collabs with Sugarpill, but I screamed when she announced KimChi Chic Beauty.
I set an alarm for the original KimChi Chic Beauty release, and I ordered the Rainbow Sharts Palette and a mirror as soon as they dropped. A couple of weeks later, Kim announced a limited edition PR box with an autographed palette, so I ended up snagging that, too. I regret nothing.
Rainbow Sharts Palette
The palette was everything I could’ve ever hoped for and more. About 2/3 of the shades are neutrals, and the rest are bright and/or sparkly. The color payoff is great, the coverage is buildable, and they blend very well. I can’t get over how awesome the mirror is. When I turn on the lights, I can see just about every pore on my face.
The main reason why I got the PR box was because I wanted the autographed palette, but after seeing how awesome my first palette was, I was super excited to try out more products.
High Key Gloss
I wasn’t sure how I’d feel about the High Key Gloss, because I’m usually a matte lip kind of girl. While I wish the shades that came with the box were a bit darker, I actually love the formula. For a gloss, it actually stays on pretty well!
Diamond Sharts
I can’t get enough of the Diamond Sharts glitter cream eyeshadows. They’re super sparkly and easily blendable, and they stay in place all day after they dry.
The Look
I created my new go-to neutral look with all of these products. For my face I used my usual Dragun Beauty Transformation kit, Colourpop foundation and concealer, Farsali Unicorn Essence, and Beauty Bakerie setting powder. I used Burnt, Chocolate, Toast, and Champs from the palette and My Stage Diamond Sharts on my eyes and Acai High Key Gloss on my lips.
As you can probably tell, I’m obsessed with the whole line. I can’t wait to get more for my collection! Have you tried anything from KimChi Chic Beauty line yet?
