My boss, Chrystal, was out of town on my birthday, but she was so excited about my present that she made me FaceTime her while I opened it. I thought that was a little odd, but I did it. I had no idea that I was in for an adventure.
Before she left, she presented me with a beautiful pink unicorn gift bag with strict instructions to not open it until we were FaceTiming on my birthday. When the day finally came, we hopped on FaceTime, and I opened the super sweet card. There was also a beautifully wrapped box. As I started peeling away the wrapping, I saw the telltale pink background with red lip prints, and I knew it was Burn Book related. It was an adorable Mean Girls stationary set, but there were a couple pieces of paper sticking out. I unfolded the paper, and I couldn’t believe my eyes. They were tickets to see Mean Girls on Broadway the following Wednesday.
We moved our schedule around a bit, so we could take a day and a half off for our trip. We hopped on a plane on Wednesday morning, and had a late lunch at a delicious Thai place across the street from our AirBNB. There were a few hours left before the show, so we just hung out and got ready before walking a few blocks to the theatre.
Obviously, we had to get some merch. I ended up with a super Fetch hat. When we were about to head to our seats, I saw a kid with a pink drink in a Mean Girls travel cup. We definitely needed one, so we headed over to the bar, and we spent $35 each on frozen rosΓ©. We regret nothing.
Our seats were INCREDIBLE. I knew we were in the front row, but I had no idea we were front row center. We were so close that I could see where Cady needed to glue down her lace front. The show was even better than I imagined. It was hilarious, touching, relatable, and more than anything I could’ve hoped for. It made me miss my days on the stage. Seriously, if you get the chance, you have to go see it.
After the show, we hopped in a Lyft to try to eat at Beetle House. They didn’t have any reservations available, but we decided to give it a shot anyway. They weren’t able to seat us, and they couldn’t serve food at the bar, but we did get some totally fetch cocktails.
We decided to walk a million blocks back to the AirBNB, and we planned on stopping somewhere else to eat. Surprisingly, most places were closed, and those that weren’t didn’t look great. We were a few blocks past our AirBNB, and we were about to give up when we saw Taqueria Diana. We walked in, and the guy behind the counter said that the kitchen was closed. Of course we were devastated, but we asked if he knew of anything else that was open. The cook took pity on us and offered to make us what we wanted to go. That is how I ended up eating one of the best burritos of my life.
What I Wore
I felt super Gretchen in a wool skirt that I picked up in London, a pink lace bodysuit from Rebellia, and a black cardigan. It was October in NYC, so I paired it all with a black scarf, black tights and over the knee boots. My Kate Spade bunny purse was a great touch of Regina.
Naturally, I had to use my Burn Book palette from Storybook Cosmetics and Mean Girls brush set and Gretchen lashes from Spectrum Cosmetics.
