Walk Into the Club Purse First

purses

Hello lovelies!

As the great Bob the Drag Queen says, “it is a known fact that a woman do carry an evening bag at dinner time.” In fact, most of us carry a purse whenever we leave the house.  A lot of woman use the same purse every day, or they match their purse to their outfit as an afterthought. However, I firmly believe that a purse can, and sometimes should, be the centerpiece of an outfit.

Neutrals

A relatively plain, neutral bag is a must-have for everyone. They’re great for any outfit, especially if you’re in a hurry. They’re perfect for outfits that already have a statement piece. Sometimes, a purse doesn’t need to be the statement piece of an outfit.

Bright and Bold

Bright or bold purses can be a great pop of color or print for otherwise neutral outfits. I can also be fun to match a bold purse to a specific color that’s already in an outfit. I like to use this oversized Hello Kitty bag with business and business casual outfits, because it makes them more fun.

Novelty

Novelty purses are my absolute favorite. If you read my previous blog post, Check out my (water)melons!, you’ve already seen my kate spade watermelon clutch. I actually bought that skirt just so I could wear it while using that clutch. Bags like these just beg you to build an outfit around them. They’re also a great conversation piece!

Do you have a favorite purse? How about a favorite brand? Are you as obsessed with kate spade as I am? Let me know in the comments!

  • I love Kate Spade’s novelty designs, they’re just so much fun! I used to match my purse to my outfit back when I was a freshman in college. I had so many purses too! Now I just change between 2, mostly because I don’t get to use them as often. I have to take my backpack to carry my laptop 🙁

    • I just bought a cupcake wristlet from the Kate Spade outlet today. It was 70% off! I absolutely hated having to use my backpack when I was in school. 🙁

      • The curse of working on my laptop is that I will have to carry a backpack forever…
