How is it already February? The beginning of the year is always crazy. A lot of us are overwhelmed by new resolutions, holiday hangovers, and the winter blues. When things get to hectic, it’s important to remember to practice some self-care.Β
January was more difficult for me than usual. Three days into the new year, I had to say goodbye to my beloved dog. For the rest of the month, it was like I was walking through a fog. I went through the motions, but I wasn’t really present. In order to take care of myself, I had to pull back from just about everything. I parked my ass in front of the tv and binge-watched anything I could find that could distract me. Now that I feel ready to get back to business as usual, this is how I’m practicing self-care:
Spa Time
As I’m writing this, I’m also practicing self-care! I actually have a Baby Foot mask on right now. My winter feet are dry and cracked andΒ gross, but this mask always makes me sandal-ready. I also have my favorite lip and under eye hydrogel masks from Patchology ready for tonight, and I have a massage scheduled for tomorrow morning.
Hobbies
One thing that fell by the wayside last month was my sewing. I bought a bunch of new fabric, but I haven’t made anything new since around Christmas. It’s time for me to fire up my sewing machine again. While I work on making some fun new things, you can shop my current inventory here.
Escape
Escape doesn’t necessarily mean traveling, although that’s a great option. This is the one thing that I haven’t neglected. Netflix and Amazon Prime Video have been my best friends lately. Sometimes you just need to turn off your brain and escape to Westeros.
While I’m obviously not giving up tv, I’ve decided to take up a more productive form of escaping: reading. Here are a few books I currently have on my nightstand:
