Kesha is by far one of my favorite artists. When I heard that she was touring again this summer, I knew I had to take my little brother to see her. I also knew that we needed the perfect outfits. My newest skill definitely came in handy.
The Outfits
When it came to our outfits, we knew exactly what we wanted: a button down for him and a skirt for me. The first problem I encountered was the fabric. After days of searching for the right alien spaceship fabric, I was still empty-handed. We even drove 45 minutes away to check out a specialty fabric store, and they didn’t have anything. Eventually, I found the perfect space cat fabric.
Making my skirt went off without a hitch. I used another skirt from my closet as the pattern, so it would fit perfectly. However, I had never made a shirt before. I found what was supposed to be a simple pattern at the fabric store. It was definitely not simple. I was terrified, so I procrastinated. Before I knew it, we had 2 days until the concert, and I had only traced the pattern.
I dove into my sewing and managed to finish the shirt in 2 evenings. It took about 12 hours sewing, but it was absolutely worth it.
I paired my skirt with a lace crop tank from Rebellia and awesome platforms from Rocket Dog. My brother wore his shirt with black skinnies, a rainbow tie, rainbow suspenders, and Chucks. We. Were. Fabulous.

The Concert
It’s summertime in the South, so rain is inevitable. Unfortunately, thunderstorms were in the forecast. Right before we got out of the car, the drizzle started. By the time we got through security, it was really raining. While we were standing in line for some merch, it started to pour. When we got to our seats, we were soaked. At least we were still cute!
I’ll be honest. We didn’t go for Macklemore; we were there for Kesha. However, we were delightfully surprised by Macklemore. That man puts on a damn good show! His set was pushed back by half an hour, but he was worth it.
The thunder started near the end of Macklemore’s set, so they had to evacuate the people with lawn tickets. Luckily, I’m too old for that shit, so we were able to stay in our seats in the covered area. We ended up waiting for about 45 minutes. Kesha, of course, was fucking magical. Our queen made her entrance from a spaceship. Her outfits were glitzy and outrageous. (My favorite was her narwhal jacket with fringe.) Her energy was out of this world. When she sang Praying, I couldn’t help but cry. It was a concert that I’ll never forget.
If you could see any artist in concert, whom would you pick? Let me know in the comments! xo
